Saturday, June 23rd 2018 Significant Deeds visited the “old people’s home” Missionaries of charity around the Simbock neighborhood of Yaounde.
This was yet another rich experience for us all as we saw many old people full of life and energy. The surroundings and dormitories were extremely clean and they were all looking happy and healthy. We equally visited their kitchen and chapel and realized they are properly fed (three square meals a day) and encouraged to listen to the word of God. We handed our gifts to the Reverend sister who was in charge of visit and she was very happy and express her appreciation to us.
One thing which stroke me during our visit was that these old people are very creative and hard working, they clean their surroundings by themselves and do a lot of hand work (even the blind) like making rosaries, chains, envelopes and many more. Indeed nobody in the society is useless.
May we all learn from this and know that even our old grand ma’s and grand pa’s at home are still very useful to the society, if we care for them very well they would live happy and better lives. Join us in our next donation session come September 2018.
