THE POWER OF GIVING

In a world of globalisation, economic uncertainty, terrorism, cultural clashes, family disintegration, political confusion, the need to reach out to the poor and needy is very necessary. Putting a smile on someone’s face has been one of my greatest achievements in my life. We (significant deeds) engage in several charitable activities such as financial aid, provision of clothing and food stuff.

One day, I took a walk in my village and noticed a little girl looking very frail, hungry and unkempt. I walked up to her and asked for her names and that of her parents. The little girl due to accumulated starvation could not help but shed tears. I decided to go closer to her and gave her a hug, walked her to my place and offered her a plate of food. She ate the food with a huge appetite. After a couple of minutes, she stopped eating and looked at me with a short face, when I asked her what the problem was she replied in a low voice “I would not have what to eat again after this one”

My inspiration to reach out to the less privileged has grown over the years following my encounter with the little girl. Growing up as a young girl, it has always been my passion to help others in any way I can. I have engaged myself in several charitable projects like the Bishop Opera Lucati Childrens home in Nairobi, Kenya and I love every experience and challenge that comes with it. I am currently working with Significant Deeds, a young growing well renowned charity organisation. Ever since I became part of this association, I can confidently say charity is more of a habitual practice to me and my hobby too.

Our last visit to Saint Rita Orphanage was an amazing experience. All the kids were so excited to see us. During our visit, we realised these kids need us, they need someone to talk to, and they need someone to play with. It does not require so much to make them happy. We  can sacrifice a few hours of our time to visit them, talk and pray with them and if possible share with them anything we can afford.

There are so many children and less privileged out there that need our love, warmth and assistance. We are called upon to be a blessing to someone today. Join us in our next donation session come next month and I assure you, you would not regret the experience.
